Taking the bus from Phuket Town to Krabi, just passed Sarasin bridge and my connection is good, i am surfing the internet and moderating this forum through the EVDO connection.

I had to redial after passing the Sarasin bridge though, but from Phuket Town untill there it was smooth sailing all the way.

EVDO/CDMA2000 does support some handover techniques making my connection pass from tower to tower as i enter reach of new towers.

I am just using the CCU-650 without any particular boosting equipment at this time.

Here is a speedtest while on the road and seemingly being in the middle of nowhere

While on the bus i do sometimes get the problem that the network is not working at all.

Then i need to disconnect and reconnect again, everytime i then reconnect it is working straight away, this tells me that perhaps the handover mechanism when i transition into the area covered by another broadcasting tower is not working perfectly.

This could either be something in CAT teleoms network, or something with the driver for my card on my macbook pro.

Also what is probably my best test result through EVDO with CAT telecom was also recorded while actually riding the bus!

That result came in what looked to me to be a quite empty and remote stretch of road.

That should actually not come as a suprise to anyone, because if they have a tower or equipment nearby, i will probably be the sole user on that tower, not competing with anyone else for that local traffic.
